Great Local Races

I created a race guide featuring my favorite local venues and runs I think are interesting and kid-friendly.  Click on the organization’s name for more information. To search on your own, check out the links on the right tab for the best aggregate race calendars. If you have something to add to this list or a note about one of the runs, leave a comment below.

TRAIL RUNS

Oct. 22: Rocky Ridge; Las Trampas, San Ramon; Half marathon championship for Brazen Racing, 10K, 5K; Chance to win big money from Brazen Racing (a huge check with your name on it) or just take a nice little run through beautiful country.

Nov. 5: Muir Beach; Muir Beach, Sausalito; 11k, 17k; 33k, 50K.

Nov. 12: Stinson Beach; 12K, 25K, 50K.

Dec 3.: Woodside; Woodside; 11k, 17k; 33k, 50K.

Dec. 1o: Summit Rock Half Marathon; half, 20K, 5K; Sanborn County Park, Saratoga.

ROAD RACES

Oct. 15: OctoberRun; Redwood City; 5K, half marathon; First half marathon on the Peninsula in years!

Oct. 15: Firefly Run; San Jose; 5K; quite possibly the coolest looking race in town. Running aglow at night? Who doesn’t want to do that?

Oct. 16: San Mateo Rotary 5K/10K; San Mateo, Seal Point Park; Fun run right through our course.

Oct. 16: Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Run; Half Moon Bay; 5K, 10K; family fun run.

Oct. 23: Livermore Grape Stomp half marathon, 10K, 5K; Livermore.

Oct. 29: Wine Country Half Marathon; Healdsburg; half marathon; honestly, one of the best race promoters and a gorgeous setting.

Oct. 29: Marsh Madness; 5K, 10K, half marathon; Palo Alto Baylands; One of my favorite places to run!

Nov. 5: Oakland Caribbean Sounds; Oakland; 5K, 10K; This is a new race and if the sound is any indication on the Website, it seems pretty fun.

Nov. 6: Run for the Jets; San Mateo; 5K, 10K, half marathon; Another run through Coyote Point.

Nov. 6: U.S. Half; San Francisco; half marathon.

Nov. 20: Big Sur Half; Big Sur, Half (already sold out).

Nov. 24: Turkey Trail Trott; San Francisco, 5 mile run, 3 mile walk.
